Fog in the Deer Field
Fog in the Deer Field
Three deer traveling through the foggy field at twilight is an image I see so often I have memorized it. They walk slowly staying within the rolling fog as it reaches long curling tendrils over the thick tousled grass. Sometimes I am startled because their silhouettes emerge right in front of me with no sound. I wonder if they think they are hidden and that is why they stay at the crest, moving slower than they would normally travel across this field. Within minutes the fog becomes a dense white curtain, the deer, field and trees are gone and the sky is dark sapphire blue.
