Poinsettia

Euphorbia pulcherrima otherwise known as a "poinsettia" is a pretty amazing plant. I have several different plants in the Euphorbiaceae family growing in my garden but the one in this painting is native to Mexico and its dryer warmer climate. I found out that the majority of poinsettia plants we buy at Christmas time are grown in California from one single grower!!! Who can resist that mass of deep lovely red during the largely flowerless winter months? In the language of flowers the color red symbolizes good cheer, success, mirth and celebration. I hope this card inspires these things in whoever receives it.
